Job Description
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Head of Accounting
Summary:
The Inventory Cost Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of inventory costs for an FMCG manufacturing company. This includes tracking inventory levels, calculating costs of goods sold, and preparing reports for management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, as well as experience in the FMCG industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports, comparing budget costs to actual production costs and conduct product margin reporting and analysis for Beverages.
● Carry-out financial analysis and evaluation of material costs, costs of sales and other overheads, compare actual costs to estimates, analyze variances and generate relevant information for management decision-making.
● Conduct analysis of raw material and packaging standard costs for accuracy on annual basis.
● Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory.
● Work closely with relevant process owners to obtain necessary information
required for compilation, documentation and analysis of costs.
● Carry out monthly stock count, analyze variances and perform reconciliation.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
● Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CFA, is preferred.
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory accounting, preferably in the FMCG industry.
● Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
