Position: Cook

Our client in the hospitality industry is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a passion for culinary arts to join their team as a cook. Situated in the heart of Port Harcourt, this position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the operations of a prestigious kitchen.

*Job Responsibilities:*
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes according to recipes and standards.
- Ensure all food preparation meets hygiene and safety standards.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations and ensure timely service.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the kitchen manager to order supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Assist in menu planning and development, offering creative input and innovative ideas.
- Adhere to portion control guidelines and minimize waste to maximize profitability.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

*Qualifications/Skills:*

*Requirements:*
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institution (preferred but not always required).
- Any relevant food safety certifications.
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques, including grilling, baking, sautéing, frying, and roasting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in handling and storing food.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently to maintain quality and consistency.
- Experience with menu planning and ingredient sourcing.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and communicate with other departments.
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely preparation of meals.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary restrictions.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Creativity and innovation to develop new dishes and adapt existing recipes.
- Attention to detail to ensure presentation and taste meet expectations.
