The Enugu State Judiciary is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join
our esteemed team as Verbatim Court Reporting Trainees. This is a unique opportunity to
embark on a career path as an Official Court Reporter upon successful completion of our 15-
months paid comprehensive training program.

YOUR TRAINING JOURNEY:

As a Verbatim Reporting Trainee, you will undergo rigorous training to master the following
essential skills:
1. Stenography and Verbatim Court Reporting: Learn to utilize specialized stenography
equipment to capture spoken words with speed and high accuracy.
2. English Usage and Grammar: Develop expertise in world-standard use of English
language, grammar and punctuation to turn your transcripts into clear, concise legal
documents.
3. Legal Terminology: Gain a comprehensive understanding of legal jargons and
procedures.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

To ensure we select the most qualified candidates, shortlisted applicants will be tested in the
following areas:
1. Mechanical Accuracy: Demonstrate your impeccable writing skills with proper
spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
2. Finger Dexterity: Showcase your typing speed and accuracy, as well as your potential
ability to utilize stenography equipment.
3. Hearing Acuity: Confirm your ability to hear clearly in both ears, with or without the
use of hearing aids.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. First Degree or Higher National Diploma. Sound OND holders may apply.
2. Good command of English Language Grammar (spelling, punctuation, etc.).
3. Ability to play any musical instrument may be an added advantage.
4. Residing in Enugu state is an added advantage.
