Job Description
Job Title: Outside Plant Project Supervisor
Location: Abuja
Salary:221,000
Job Description
• The Project Supervisor will be directly responsible for and actively involved in project execution planning, monitoring and control, stakeholders’ engagement, and risk averting, in an effective manner that ensures projects are delivered to time, quality, and scope.
• The role will typically involve everyday visits to project sites to ensure project objectives are not compromised and where necessary, guide the contractor to solve complex installation problems.
• The project supervisor is also responsible for final integration & commissioning of service terminals (GPON or P2P) within acceptable loss levels and submitting test reports required for service fulfillment and maintenance operations.
• Effective planning of P2P and GPON Fiber Projects
• Provide daily project work plan and activity reports to team lead/data analyst, every day, throughout the duration of the project.
• Provide prompt updates on issues/challenges that may impact project delivery dates.
• Sign out and move materials to project site, in a timely manner.
• Review quality of materials supplied to site by contractor (e.g. PVC, HDPE, GI pipes, iron rods, etc.) and ensure they meet ipNX standards. Reject sub-standard materials and escalate back to your Team Lead.
• Enforce compliance with work methods and other deployment guidelines within Estates & MTUs.
• Actively monitor civil works (trenching/ducting, hand-holes construction, pole planting, cabinet installation).
• Actively supervise cable pulling/MST box installation, splicing and termination.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations in line with SHE standards, e.g., working at heights, working around power lines, working in greenfield environments, working around underground utilities, working at night, etc.
• Provide daily/regular activity reports to Estate/Facility Manager in a timely manner and manage issues proactively.
• Maintain a healthy relationship with Estate/Facility Manager, residents/customers and other key stakeholders.
• Ensure a healthy relationship between project team & key stakeholders (e.g. EM/FM, residents, customers, property owners, area boys, etc.).
• Validate, submit & track variations until approval.
• Validate and track milestone payments until approval.
• Ensure project snags are cleared before hand-over/audit.
• Submit kick-off meeting reports, milestone reports, MST or P2P splice reports, OTDR trace test and hand-over reports.
• All reports must be submitted 24 hrs after activity/task completion.
• Attend all project meetings – weekly review meetings, on-site kick-off meetings, divisional meetings, customer triggered meetings, emergency meetings.
• Actively participate & lead project hand-over/audit exercise.
• Proactively engage stakeholders to mitigate escalations that may stall/delay project speed.
• Provide support to other team members or units where necessary, or as instructed by your team lead or unit head.
Qualifications & Skills
• University Degree in Telecoms, Engineering or Applied Sciences. Certifications in Fibre Optic Cabling, CFOT or FOA will be an added advantage. Certifications in HSE Grade III will be an added advantage.
• Proficient use of fiber test tools e.g. OTDR, power meter & Light source, VFL.
• Proficient use of design software e.g. AutoCAD, Visio/GIS tools, etc.
• Proficient use of basic data analytics software, e.g. Excel, Word, Google live sheets.
• Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Oral).
• Sound knowledge of telecom industry best practices with regard to fiber & civil installation.
• An inherent culture of documentation – daily project activity reports, As-built drawings, splice reports, OTDR trace reports, project milestone/completion reports.
