Financial Controller

HND/BSC in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is required
Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior financial management role.
Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
Preferably within the retail industry or a multi-entity organization.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
Proficient in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
A master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to create realistic and achievable financial plans.
Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
Develop, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Regularly review and update internal control procedures.
Manage the organization’s cash flow, including cash flow forecasting, monitoring liquidity, and ensuring adequate cash reserves to meet operational needs.
Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Provide insights and recommendations on cost control, revenue enhancement, and overall financial performance.
Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of finance staff.
Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Ensure that the organization’s financial risk management practices are robust and effective.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
Provide clear and concise explanations of financial performance and risks.
Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
