We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Distribution Centre Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our distribution centre and ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Job Summary: The Distribution Centre Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the distribution centre, including overseeing staff, ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment, and maintaining inventory control. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to optimize processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Oversee the daily operations of the distribution centre, ensuring that all processes are running smoothly and efficiently.
2.Manage the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring that all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
3.Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring that stock is accurately recorded and that any discrepancies are addressed promptly.
4.Implement and oversee warehouse management systems (WMS) and ensure that all staff are trained and compliant.
5.Supervise, train, and evaluate distribution centre staff, including warehouse workers, forklift operators, and administrative personnel.
6.Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure optimal staffing levels and productivity.
7.Address any personnel issues, providing guidance and support to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
8.Identify areas for process improvement within the distribution centre and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
9.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to make informed decisions regarding operational improvements.
10.Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in all distribution centre activities.
11.Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
12.Investigate and report any safety incidents or near-misses, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
13.Ensure that all goods are stored and handled according to quality standards to prevent damage or loss.
14.Oversee the inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure that they meet quality and quantity requirements.
15.Communicate with customers and clients as needed to provide updates on order status or address any concerns.
16.Prepare and submit regular reports on distribution centre performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and productivity metrics.
17.Maintain accurate records of all distribution centre activities, including shipping and receiving logs, inventory records, and employee performance evaluations.
Skills and Requirements:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
b. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a distribution centre or warehouse environment.
c. Proven experience in managing distribution centre operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and staff supervision.
d. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a diverse team of employees.
e. Experience in developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring that staffing levels are optimized for efficiency.
f. In-depth knowledge of distribution centre operations, including warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and logistics processes.
g. Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to make informed decisions.
h. Experience in conducting safety audits and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
i. Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for reporting and data analysis.
