Job Description: Waiter/Waitress at AKTC Guest House
Position Title: Waiter/Waitress
Location: AKTC Guest House, Jabi, Abuja FCT
Department: Food and Beverage Services
Reports To: Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Waiter/Waitress at AKTC Guest House is responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests by providing professional and attentive service. This includes greeting and seating guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, handling guest requests, and ensuring a clean and welcoming dining area. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team to enhance the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Guest Service:
Greet guests promptly with a warm and friendly attitude, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist guests in selecting menu items by providing information on food and beverage options, answering questions, and making recommendations.
Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests and communicate them clearly to the kitchen staff.

2. Order Management:
Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely manner, ensuring that all items are delivered correctly and meet the guest house’s quality standards.
Check on guests periodically to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any additional requests or concerns.
Clear dishes, glassware, and utensils from tables as guests finish their meals, ensuring a clean and tidy environment.

3. Menu Knowledge:
Maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, ingredients, portion sizes, and preparation methods.
Be aware of guests' dietary preferences, food allergies, and special requests, and communicate them accurately to the kitchen.

4. Cleanliness and Hygiene:
Ensure that tables are set properly with clean cutlery, glassware, and tableware before guests are seated.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, floors, and service stations.
Follow health and safety standards, including food handling, sanitation, and personal hygiene protocols.

5. Payment and Billing:
Present the bill to guests and handle payment transactions, including cash, credit cards, or mobile payments.
Accurately process guest payments and return change when applicable, ensuring transparency and honesty in all transactions.

6. Team Collaboration:
Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow waiters/waitresses to ensure seamless service and a positive guest experience.
Assist in setting up and breaking down the dining area for service, including preparing for breakfast, lunch, or dinner shifts.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.

7. Special Events:
Assist in the setup, service, and breakdown of special events such as banquets, conferences, or private dining at the guest house.
Ensure guests receive the same level of attentive service during events as they would during regular dining.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Additional certification or training in hospitality or food service is a plus.

Experience:
Previous experience as a waiter/waitress or in a similar role in a restaurant, hotel, or guest house is preferred but not required.
On-the-job training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Skills:
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with guests and team members professionally.
Attention to detail, especially in order taking and service presentation.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.

Other Requirements:
Friendly and outgoing personality, with a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.

Working Conditions:
The Waiter/Waitress will work in a busy restaurant or dining area, interacting with guests, handling food and beverages, and working alongside other service staff.
Flexible work hours are required, including early morning shifts, late evenings, and weekends, depending on the guest house’s operations and guest needs.
The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and carrying trays of food and beverages.
