JOB TITLE: SENIOR ASSOCIATE (DISPUTE RESOLUTION)
INDUSTRY: LEGAL SERVICES

Job Summary:
The Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution Unit plays a critical role in managing complex Legal matters, providing expert advice and representation in disputes, and supporting the team’s operations. This role includes drafting legal documents, supervising junior associates, managing client engagements, and contributing to the unit’s growth by building strong client relationships.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Advisory and Client Representation:
• Advise clients on dispute resolution strategies, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitration panels, and mediation sessions.
Drafting and Documentation:
• Draft and review pleadings, statements of claim/defense, witness statements, settlement agreements, and legal opinions.
• Ensure all documentation meets legal standards and is tailored to client objectives.
Case and Matter Management:
• Manage assigned dispute resolution cases, ensuring timely progress and successful outcomes.
• Collaborate with Managing Associates on high-profile and complex cases.
Client Engagement:
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates, managing expectations, and delivering tailored advice.
• Attend client meetings and assist in developing case strategies.
Team Supervision and Mentorship:
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and trainees, providing guidance on legal research, drafting, and case management.
• Review and approve work produced by junior team members to ensure accuracy and quality.
Regulatory and Compliance Advisory:
• Advise clients on regulatory compliance issues related to dispute resolution.
• Monitor changes in laws and provide timely updates to clients and the team.
Business Development:
• Identify opportunities to grow client relationships and enhance the firm’s dispute resolution practice.
• Participate in client pitches, marketing efforts, and industry events.
Knowledge Sharing and Training:
• Stay updated on developments in dispute resolution laws and practices.
• Participate in and contribute to internal training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• LLB., BL, LLM
• Minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience after been called to Nigerian Bar, with demonstrated expertise in dispute resolution.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex cases and advising clients on high stakes matters.
