Job Description
The Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions for both Dozen Price Supermarket and Viola Restaurant. The role ensures financial compliance, effective cash management, and provides management with timely financial information for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recording and Reporting
Record daily sales, purchases, and expense transactions for both the supermarket and restaurant.
Prepare accurate financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements) monthly.
Cash and Bank Management
Reconcile daily cash, POS, and bank deposits to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Monitor and record bank transactions, performing regular reconciliations.
Inventory and Cost Control
Monitor stock purchases, usage, and wastage for both locations.
Perform periodic inventory reconciliations in collaboration with store and restaurant managers.
Analyse cost of goods sold (COGS) and provide reports to aid pricing and profitability decisions.
Payables and Receivables Management
Maintain records of suppliers’ invoices and ensure timely payments.
Record and follow up on customer receivables where applicable (e.g. corporate orders).
Payroll Support
Prepare monthly staff payroll summaries in collaboration with HR.
Ensure statutory deductions are correctly computed and remitted (e.g. PAYE, pension).
Financial Analysis
Analyse sales trends, expenses, and profitability to provide management with insights.
Advise on areas for cost reduction and revenue improvement.
Compliance and Audit Preparation
Ensure adherence to financial policies and internal control procedures.
Prepare and organise financial records for internal and external audits.
Reporting
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports to management and the Group Finance Manager.
Report any discrepancies or financial risks immediately.
