Job Description

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Center for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) is a Youth-led non-governmental organization working in the Northeast with its headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno state, and its operational offices in Adamawa and Yobe state.
CATAI as an organization has been working to improve access to education and promote the right of girl child across the northeast, leading passionate young people to promote and advocate for girl child education across the northeastern part of Nigeria, CATAI is implementing a project titled “Educate a Girl Project” in Yola South, Fufore and Mubi Local Government Areas of Adamawa state with the overall goal ofaddressing barriers faced by the girl child in relation to access to secondary school education in Adamawa state.
CATAI is working toward achieving the set goals through various strategies using different approaches which include the #Girl4Education club whichwill be beneficial to the girl in terms of her education, life skills, values, and the underlying factors affecting girl child education.
The #Girls4Education in-school and out-of-school mentorship with life skills initiative will utilize a bi-weekly mentorship session with the facilitators and mentors. During the sessions, the topics outlined will be utilized to spur interaction and learning on the benefits of life skills. The sessions will also introduce specific life skills activities towards improved life skills for the beneficiaries.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE:
We are searching for a self-assured, fully engaged Mentor/Facilitator to lead group conversations within school and out-of-school girls. The Facilitator should elucidate participants' existing knowledge, The Facilitator should also monitor participants' performance to discern potential learning-related challenges within the cohort.
To ensure success as a Facilitator, you should exhibit zeal and confidence in order to bolster attendees' participation. Invariably, a superb Facilitator will skillfully traverse the line between facilitating and teaching, contingent on the subject matter.
The core purpose of this role is to facilitate conflict-sensitive activity in line with the facilitator guide in the clubtwice weekly.
FACILITATORS RESPONSIBILITIES.
• Reporting to the community engagement officer, you will work closely with the CATAI programs team to facilitate girls’ classes particularly those in abject poverty and disadvantage with respect to education barriers.
• Conduct sensitization and awareness creation on the need to educate a girl child and completion of secondary school education.
• Serve as mentors to girls on life skills by contextualizing the available resources in maintaining personal hygiene during and outside school hours.
• Mentor them on career guidance and need to be educated.
• Highlight needs pertaining to capacity development
• Encouraging respect for ideas voiced during the facilitation
• Administering and reviewing progress on assessments.
• Tracking and conveying attendees' engagement
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to advise and assist students with academic and vocational development.
• Evaluate students’ attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives.
• Develop and implement counseling strategies with contemporary methods of mentoring.
• Identify behavioral problems and act appropriately to remedy the situation.
• Pay attention to societal and cultural differences in all student matters.
• Assess the development of students and highlight the sense of accomplishment.
• Complete evaluations, analyze results and provide purposeful feedback.
• Cooperate with parents, academic staff, and external partners.
• Arrange and schedule orientation programs and internships

FACILITATORS REQUIREMENT.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or guardian and counseling, Higher National Diploma or NCE.
• Accredited qualification in a pertinent stream.
• Demonstrable and relevant facilitation experience.
• Capacity to formulate relevant, memorable knowledge to the learners.
• Knowledgeable routine assessment and moderation operations.
• Ability to drive critical, student-led dialogs about learning material.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Respectful, astute, and accommodating

LANGUAGE:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required and other local languages of the community.
