Pharmacist

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their pharmacy. They ensure that all staff members are performing their jobs effectively and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Pharmacy Job Duties
A pharmacist typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include but not limited to:

Reviewing sales records to determine whether customers are satisfied.
Assist with drug ordering and oversees inventory management activities
Providing data analysis and reporting on the status of inventory levels and other pharmacy department statistics
Ensuring that all state and federal laws are followed when dispensing medications to patients
Maintaining an inventory of pharmaceutical products by ordering supplies and ensuring stock out is avoided.
Providing training to pharmacy technicians and other staff members on topics such as adherence to processes, inventory control procedures and compounding drugs
Assisting in maintaining the store’s appearance by ensuring that shelves are stocked and neat and clean
Training staff on pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D.; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Pharmacist.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
Ability to perform basic patient assessments and referrals.
Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Position requires: a) practice of professional pharmacy in a clinical pharmacy setting; b) independent preparation, dispensing, and compounding of prescription medications; c) use of independent judgment in the provison of information and consultation to the public and health care professionals on the nature and use of drugs; d) training and supervision of pharmacy interns and/or technical support staff; e) utilization of a computerized pharmacy data entry system.
Conditions of Employment
May require discipline-specific licensure and/or professional certification, as specified by the department in the preferences.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
