Africa HCD+ is a platform funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and will have the capability to serve as an African voice for advocacy, accountability, and transparency on HCD. It seeks to accelerate political commitments, decision-making and funding for key priorities towards realising SDGs #1-6 in Sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to incubate regional advocacy and technical assistance hub on Human Capital Development towards increasing African Government's commitment, funding, and accountability to HCD. The platform, through increased HCD advocacy, focuses on five pillars: (i) Health and Health Security; (ii) Nutrition and Food Security; (iii) Education, Skills Development, and Labour Participation; (iv) Entrepreneurship, Financial Inclusion, and Digital Transformation; and (v) Gender transformative HCD. Also, HCD sits across multiple Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in many African governments. Hence, there has not been any organisation that holds an integrated vision for HCD. This makes an HCD-focused institution like the Africa HCD+ highly critical to further supporting the HCD agenda on the continent. HCD+ focuses on four strategic objectives: (i) Creating transparency on the HCD performance across the continent; (ii) Advocating with heads of state and decision-makers to make HCD a priority; (iii) Ensuring effective coordination and collaboration with stakeholders and decision-makers; and (iv) Selectively driving the implementation of flagship programmes in education, health, and economic inclusion. The programme has since commenced its activities in Abuja.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The drivers will be actively responsible for conveying staff and consultants from one location to another. In addition, h/she will ensure the total maintenance and safety of the assigned vehicle.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 Convey staff and consultants around official businesses as may be assigned.
 Convey materials from origin to destination as may be directed in the ordinary course of work.
 Ensure total safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of the assigned vehicle (s).
 Properly maintain a movement log book in the manner contained in the organisation's manual.
 Be responsible for the availability, authenticity/validity of the particulars of the assigned vehicle (s).
 Willingness and ability to travel at short notice.
 Any other duty as may be assigned.

CAR SECURITY & MAINTENANCE

• Ensure the vehicle is always kept secure, clean, and in good working condition.
• Ensure the vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyre, etc.
• Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out promptly and correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications.

OTHERS

• All vehicles must be used for official assignments ONLY.
• All accidents, however minor, must be reported immediately to the HR/Admin Officer.
• The use of mobile phones while driving is not allowed. However, if it is an urgent call, you may first request to park in a safe place before picking up the call.
• Immediately report any abnormality noticed with the car to the HR/Admin Officer.
• Smartly dressed and polite

REPORTING

The Drivers will report to the HR/Admin Officer.

REQUIREMENTS & SPECIFICATIONS

• A minimum of West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)/General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level.
• 5-7 years of driving experience.
• A valid driver's license, Class B.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Calmness and good instinct.
• Excellent knowledge of the geographical region and road network in the location.
• Good communication skills (written & oral).
• Knowledge of First Aid will be a strong advantage.
