Job Description
As a Gearbox Technician at Akwa Ibom State Government Transport Company Limited, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing gearbox systems in our fleet of vehicles. Your role will involve diagnosing gearbox-related issues, performing repairs and adjustments, and ensuring that vehicles operate smoothly and efficiently. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our transportation services.
Key Responsibilities:
Gearbox Maintenance and Repair:
Diagnose gearbox problems in vehicles using diagnostic tools, visual inspections, and test drives.
Perform repairs and adjustments on manual and automatic gearbox systems, including replacing worn or damaged components.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, filter replacements, and seal inspections to ensure gearbox integrity.
Troubleshooting and Diagnosis:
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues affecting gearbox performance, such as gear slippage, unusual noises, and transmission fluid leaks.
Use diagnostic equipment and software to identify fault codes and system malfunctions, and interpret diagnostic data to inform repair decisions.
Gearbox Overhaul and Rebuilding:
Overhaul and rebuild gearbox assemblies to restore functionality and extend service life.
Disassemble gearbox units, inspect internal components for wear and damage, and replace worn parts with new or refurbished components.
Reassemble gearbox units according to manufacturer specifications and quality standards, ensuring proper alignment and lubrication.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
Test repaired or rebuilt gearbox units to verify proper operation and performance.
Conduct road tests to evaluate gearbox functionality under real-world driving conditions and identify any remaining issues.
Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure that all gearbox repairs meet safety and reliability standards.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate records of gearbox maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and testing results.
Update maintenance logs, service records, and repair histories for individual vehicles and fleet-wide gearbox systems.
Generate reports and documentation as needed for management review and regulatory compliance.
