Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close network projects across the business, including maintenance of active IP infrastructure in conformity with Organization standards and procedures.
• Work with Upstream (ISP) partners to manage core IP Network and Client-side network services and support.
• Liaise with the Network Implementation and Planning Departments to ensure that the implementation and onward management of Data and IP Core projects are in accordance with the respective plans and contract agreements.
• Responsible for the development of an optimal and cost-effective Data and IP Core Network strategy.
• Carry out evaluation of proposals, assist in technology evaluation and equipment forecast, and ensure adequate tools and resources are available for Data and IP Core Network activities.
• Ensure adequate tools and resources are available for Data and IP Core network activities.
• Ensure and maintain 100% accurate and thorough knowledge, configurations, and database records of Data and IP Core network projects at all times.
• Ensure Data and IP Core Network availability and Manage network performance, bandwidth usage, and configuration to ensure conformance with set KPIs.
• Ensure proper new node integration and implementation of change requests and planned work, and achieve Planned Work Completion Rate.
• Develop strategies to effectively leverage and integrate IP Upstream, Core and Access projects into existing network infrastructure.
• Responsible for developing processes and procedures required to ensure Data and IP Core projects are executed in accordance with the agreed plan and strategy and also in line with industry and global best practices, and to identify opportunities for improvements.
• Initiate spares and material management and support as it relates to Data and IP Core/Access project implementation.
• Collaborate with other business units in the development of business models for use and develop measurement strategies to support ongoing strategy development and project optimization.
• Coach and train the departmental team to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets and requirements, and regular review of their training needs.
• Lead Engineers in performing field upgrades and maintaining core network equipment to maximize network availability
• Defines, documents, maintains, updates, and implements the knowledge base, productivity, and communication SOPs, including NOC Escalation protocol
• Ensures direct reports understand and follow organizational rules and regulations
• Coordinates with appropriate personnel from other units or contractors as required
• Work with the CTO and business leads with budget preparations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in telecommunication, science, engineering or any related discipline and other relevant professional certifications, e.g. CCNP, CCIE, PMP and PRINCE2, will be an asset.
• 9–17 years of experience working on complex, commercially sensitive fixed Data and IP core/access networks (e.g., technology evaluations/integration, due diligence, etc.)
• Manager track record of 3 years or more, with at least 3 years in the Telecom/ISP/large Scale relevant sector or industry
• Work experience across diverse cultures and geographies is advantageous.
• Knowledge and relevant experience in broadband telecommunications
• industry transmission networks (SDH/DWDM/OTN), IP/MPLS and Fiber network technologies and solutions will be an advantage.
• Must have technical knowledge of LAN/WAN; routing, switches, telephony, and security devices – IOS; VoIP; and Fiber optic technologies.
