Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Maintenance Engineer Manager to lead our field maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications infrastructure, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage and coordinate field operations effectively. As the Field Maintenance Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our network by overseeing the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of telecommunication equipment across various sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of field maintenance engineers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and job satisfaction. Conduct regular team meetings and performance evaluations.
Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day field operations, ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively. Develop and implement maintenance schedules, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources appropriately.
Quality Control: Ensure that all maintenance work is performed to the highest standards, with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to best practices.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Provide technical expertise and support to field engineers in diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to network equipment, including RF systems, transmission lines, power systems, and fiber optics.
Emergency Response: Coordinate and lead the team in responding to network emergencies, such as system outages or equipment failures, ensuring rapid restoration of services with minimal downtime.
Project Management: Plan and oversee field projects, including the installation, configuration, and upgrading of network equipment. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Budget Management: Manage the budget for field maintenance activities, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality. Track expenses, negotiate with vendors, and optimize resource utilization.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all field activities comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety within the team, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe working practices.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and incident reports. Prepare regular reports for senior management on team performance, network status, and any issues or recommendations.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as network engineering, IT, and customer support, to ensure smooth coordination of maintenance activities and alignment with overall business objectives.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of field maintenance operations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Tower Climber, Electrical Safety Certification) is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in field maintenance or network operations within the telecommunications industry, with at least 3-4 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of telecommunication systems, including RF, transmission lines, power systems, and fiber optics.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
Familiarity with network management systems and industry-specific standards and regulations.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in telecommunications, network maintenance, or related areas (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are preferred.
