Job Description
Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Shift Pattern: 12-hour rotating shifts, 6 days per week
Salary Range: ₦80,000 - ₦150,000 per month
Job Description:
The Wire Drawing Machine Operator is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling wire drawing operations to ensure quality production, minimize waste, and troubleshoot process challenges. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate wire drawing machines to produce wires of specified sizes and shapes as outlined in work orders.
• Select and install appropriate dies, shaping rollers, and pilots for production.
• Operate equipment, adjust settings, and replace dies to maintain product specifications.
• Select rods from stock and weld as necessary for continuous machine operation.
• Load and unload wire from laydown areas and ensure smooth flow into machines.
• Conduct quality checks on incoming materials and finished products using visual inspection and micrometers.
• Record production details and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Perform periodic checks to minimize spoilage and maintain quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process challenges to optimize production.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the smelting, casting, and wire drawing sections.
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, observations, and quality checks.
• Update supervisors on process outcomes and discuss necessary adjustments.
• Ensure adherence to the company’s Quality Management System and Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
• Operate equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
• OND/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is an advantage.
• 6-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the wire drawing or manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of wire drawing processes, tools, and techniques.
