Job Description

Our Client, is a leading investment firm seeking a highly skilled Equity Analyst to join our equity research team. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of producing high-quality equity research and analysis, with a focus on identifying investment opportunities and risks.

Job Title: Equity Analyst
Reports to: Senior Analyst
Location: Victoria Island (Lagos)
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:
The Equity Analyst will be responsible for conducting fundamental research and analysis on publicly traded companies to inform investment decisions. This includes analyzing financial statements, industry trends, and competitive positioning to estimate future earnings and cash flows. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting, finance, and investing principles, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct in-depth fundamental research on publicly traded companies, including analyzing financial statements, industry trends, and competitive positioning.
2. Estimate future earnings and cash flows using financial models and forecasting techniques.
3. Evaluate the attractiveness of investment opportunities based on factors such as valuation, growth prospects, and risk.
4. Develop and maintain financial models and databases to support research and analysis.
5. Communicate research findings and investment recommendations to portfolio managers, analysts, and other stakeholders.
6. Stay up-to-date with market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that impact the companies and industries being covered.
7. Collaborate with other analysts and portfolio managers to share research and insights.
8. Participate in company meetings, conference calls, and industry events to gather information and insights.

Qualifications and requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
2. 5 - 7 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or a related field.
3. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress towards obtaining the designation.
4. Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and investing principles.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and identify key trends and insights.
6. Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex research findings and investment recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market conditions.

Other qualities:
1. Experience with financial modeling software such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Excel.
2. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
3. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
4. Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.
