Job Description

The Principal Project Engineer ensures the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of fluid transport in wells and surface systems for deepwater operations. The role involves supporting projects through steady-state and transient multiphase flow modeling and simulation while ensuring compliance with HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality) standards.

Key Responsibilities

HSSEQ Compliance & Safety Leadership
Ensure all activities comply with HSSEQ standards and promote a safety-first culture on-site.

Enforce Shell and IOGP (International Oil and Gas Producers) HSE policies and procedures at company worksites.

Champion the utilization of Shell global work processes, including HSE management and MOC (Management of Change) processes.

Flow Assurance & Technical Support

Provide technical expertise in flow assurance, including multiphase flow modeling and simulation (e.g., Unisim, OLGA, Pipesim) for deepwater fluid transport.

Analyze underlying fluid and thermal dynamics, heat and mass transfer, and evaluate system concepts for effective production management.

Identify and implement operational strategies for managing flow assurance challenges, including normal production, shut-in, restart, and blockage remediation.

Interface with multidisciplinary teams (Subsurface, Wells, SURF, Process Engineering, Production Chemistry, Production Technology, Operations) to integrate and deliver flow assurance solutions.

Project Leadership & Technical Assurance

Lead and execute flow assurance studies, including detailed design and integrated technical studies.

Conduct and contribute to technical reviews, audits, integrity assessments, and due diligence evaluations.

Ensure the quality and content of flow assurance deliverables align with Design and Construction Assurance Framework (DCAF).

Provide design, commissioning, and start-up support for BN project execution, particularly for brownfield upgrades.

Offer fit-for-purpose solutions to flow assurance challenges, ensuring the integrity of flowlines and offshore facilities.

Influence system operations and execution activities to optimize flow assurance strategies throughout the BN project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.

Extensive experience in flow assurance engineering within the oil and gas industry, preferably in deepwater operations.

Strong knowledge of multiphase flow modeling, simulation tools, and flow assurance principles.

Experience in technical reviews, project execution, and interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to speak both English and Portuguese fluently is an advantage.
