Job Description
Job Description
o The Research and Development Manager performs research and development duties for the company.
o He will oversee research activities; and develop knowledge-based products for the company.
o They use research theories, principles and models to perform a variety of experiments and activities.
o He/she will also develop research programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and study the potential of new products.
Job Responsibilities
o Meeting with business management, marketing, and the R&D team to discuss product ideas.
o Building the project plan (scope, timeline, budget) with the cross-functional team members, getting review + approval from the stakeholders before starting significant investments
o Monitoring the execution (achievements/investments, actual versus forecast), giving support to the project team, removing impediments, revising the plan based on updated/new inputs and communicating to Stakeholders
o Conducting market research and evaluating similar products and their functions.
o Facilitating project team collaboration and communication, within the project and towards external stakeholders
o Collaborating with the engineering and marketing department on product feasibility.
o Redesigning existing products to enhance functionality or reduce costs.
o Creating design projects and specification sheets.
o Presenting product designs to management and stakeholders.
o Overseeing the engineering of product prototypes.
o Testing prototype products for functionality, ease-of-use, and longevity.
o Resolving product issues.
o Overseeing the production process
Qualifications
o First Bachelor's Degree / HND in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or any relevant field.
o A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
o Certifications with relevant Engineering body is a must
o Minimum of 8 years postgraduate cognate experience, 4 years out of which must be in a managerial position.
o Demonstrate technical design skills to create functional and attractive products that are cost-effective and user-friendly.
o Previous experience in the Automobile, aerospace and other defence sector is desirable.
