Role Summary
The School Bus Driver will be responsible for the safe, punctual, and comfortable transportation of students to and from school. This role requires someone who is reliable, attentive to safety, and committed to providing an excellent service. The driver will play a crucial role in the daily lives of the students, ensuring their well-being while they are in transit.

Key Responsibilities
Safe Transportation of Students

Transport students to and from school safely, adhering to all traffic laws and school transportation protocols.

Ensure that students are seated safely with seatbelts on at all times.

Follow the assigned routes and schedules promptly, ensuring no delays or detours.

Check the bus for safety hazards before and after each trip, ensuring it is in good condition for use.

Vehicle Maintenance & Safety Checks

Conduct daily inspections of the bus, ensuring that it is in good working condition before each trip.

Report any mechanical issues or damage to the Admin Officer immediately and ensure timely repairs.

Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle at all times.

Monitor fuel levels and report when refueling is necessary.

Student Management & Assistance

Ensure students are picked up and dropped off safely at designated locations.

Assist students in boarding and disembarking the bus, especially younger children, to ensure their safety.

Report any incidents or behavioral issues among students to the Admin Officer.

Ensure that students behave appropriately during transit to maintain a safe and peaceful environment.

Punctuality & Scheduling

Adhere strictly to the school’s bus schedules, ensuring students are picked up and dropped off at the correct times.

Communicate any delays or changes in the schedule to the Admin Officer promptly.

Maintain a record of bus runs and timings for accurate reporting.

Emergency Preparedness & First Aid

Respond promptly and appropriately in emergency situations, such as accidents or medical emergencies.

Ensure the bus is equipped with first aid supplies and is aware of emergency protocols.

Keep a calm and collected demeanor, ensuring students feel secure and safe in any situation.

Key Requirements
Education:

Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).

Any additional certifications related to first aid or defensive driving will be an advantage.

Experience:

Previous experience as a School Bus Driver is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience driving large vehicles or buses is a significant advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Good communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Strong commitment to safety and punctuality, ensuring students’ well-being while traveling.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a professional and calm demeanor.

Other Requirements:

Lagos residents are preferred due to proximity to the school.

Reliable, responsible, and punctual, with a strong sense of duty to ensure students are transported safely and on time.

Must be able to work flexible hours and have the ability to work on weekends or public holidays if required.
