Role Summary
The Security Officer will be responsible for safeguarding the school premises, students, staff, and visitors by ensuring that the school environment is secure and free from any threats or risks. This role involves monitoring access points, ensuring emergency protocols are followed, and responding effectively to any security issues. The Security Officer will be the first line of defense in maintaining the safety and security of the school community.

Key Responsibilities
Premises Surveillance & Access Control

Monitor and patrol the school premises, including entry points, parking lots, and common areas, ensuring that no unauthorized individuals are present.

Check and secure all entry/exit points, ensuring that only authorized personnel, students, and staff have access to the school.

Control and monitor access points, including the school’s main gate, entrance doors, and staff entryways.

Implement visitor management protocols, ensuring visitors are logged in and escorted where necessary.

Emergency Response & Crisis Management

Respond promptly to emergencies such as fire outbreaks, accidents, or security breaches, taking immediate action to mitigate damage or harm.

Ensure emergency evacuation protocols are followed in case of incidents, guiding students, staff, and visitors to safety.

Assist in coordinating with local authorities such as the police, fire department, or emergency medical teams when required.

Keep a clear record of all incidents, reports, and actions taken during emergencies for future reference.

Safety Protocols & Monitoring

Conduct routine safety checks around the school grounds, ensuring that all safety equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, etc.) is functioning correctly.

Prevent any form of misconduct or inappropriate behavior, intervening where necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Assist in ensuring the school complies with all safety regulations and standards.

Report and document suspicious activities, security breaches, or safety hazards to the Admin Officer.

Surveillance Equipment & Reporting

Operate and maintain surveillance equipment (CCTV, alarm systems) to monitor and detect potential security threats.

Ensure all incidents, actions, and security-related activities are documented accurately in the daily logbook.

Provide detailed reports to the Admin Officer regarding security activities, incidents, and any actions taken.

General Duties

Serve as a point of contact for staff, students, and visitors for any security-related inquiries.

Enforce the school's policies regarding security and safety.

Ensure all security systems and equipment are regularly maintained and functional.

Assist with the securing of school events, ensuring safety for attendees and participants.

Be proactive in identifying potential risks or threats and recommending preventive measures.

Key Requirements
Education:
Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
Additional certifications in security or related fields will be an added advantage.

Experience:
Prior experience in a security role (e.g., security guard, police, military) is a significant advantage.
Previous experience in an educational institution or similar setting is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
Physically fit with the ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including patrolling and standing for extended periods.
Strong observation skills and attention to detail, able to identify potential security risks.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
Good communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact effectively with students, staff, and visitors.
Ability to remain alert and observant at all times.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and follow safety protocols.

Other Requirements:
Must be trustworthy and able to pass a thorough background check.
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays when necessary.

Compensation
Salary: 50K Monthly Gross
