Job Description
Seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage key accounting functions, ensuring compliance with construction industry standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves supervising day-to-day financial operations, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining accurate financial records to drive the company's growth. The ideal candidate will have expertise in accounting principles, tax management, accounts reconciliation, and financial reporting, in alignment with IFRS and Nigerian regulations, while maintaining internal controls to ensure financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate financial statements and assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Support internal and external audit processes with required documentation.
- Consolidate financial statements and ensure timely submission of statutory reports to regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws, corporate tax requirements, and international accounting standards (IFRS).
- Prepare and file statutory tax returns and liaise with tax authorities as necessary.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and advise management accordingly.
Financial Statement Audit
- Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and provide necessary support during audits.
- Ensure all transactions are properly recorded, classified, and summarized for the preparation of financial statements.
- Monitor vendor and customer accounts, ensuring accurate billing and timely collections/payments.
- Manage aging reports, follow up on outstanding receivables, and ensure timely settlement of payables.
Accounting Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions including posting of financial transactions, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee petty cash disbursement and ensure accurate documentation of all cash-related transactions.
General Accounting Expertise
- Apply a strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices in all aspects of work.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls.
Support process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree/HND in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, or related technical field). An MBA is a plus.
· Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or ICAN.
· Minimum 7-10 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the aviation industry.
· Strong background in accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing processes.
· Familiarity with construction sector financial practices and regulatory requirements is an advantage.

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.

· Proven experience in supporting financial decision-making to drive business growth and optimize costs.
· Skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams to align financial objectives with strategic business goals.
· Strong background in budget preparation, financial monitoring, and cost control, with focus on revenue enhancement.
