Legal Officer

Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing sound legal advice, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, drafting legal documents, and handling corporate legal processes. This role is vital in managing legal risks and supporting the company’s operations with strong legal backing.

Key Responsibilities
Provide legal guidance on business operations and decisions.

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.

Ensure the company complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external counsel.

Maintain accurate legal records and manage the company’s legal documentation.

Develop internal policies and procedures to support legal and compliance requirements.

Stay up to date with legislative changes and advise management on their impact.

Support company secretarial duties including board meetings and filings.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B), and must be called to the Nigerian Bar.

Minimum of 1-3 years post-call experience, preferably in a corporate or commercial legal setting.

Strong understanding of Nigerian legal and regulatory frameworks.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills
Experience in corporate law, compliance, or contract law.

Industry experience in [Insert Industry, e.g., real estate, finance, telecoms].

Certification in corporate governance or compliance (optional but preferred).
