Job Description

Job Summary:
The Legal Officer will support the company’s real estate operations by handling all legal matters related to land acquisition, property transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. The role involves reviewing legal documents, conducting due diligence, managing risk, and ensuring all transactions adhere to local laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert legal advice on land acquisition, property sales, and leasing activities.
• Conduct legal due diligence on land titles and ensure all property documents are authentic and valid.
• Draft and review property-related contracts, including Deeds of Assignment, Contracts of Sale, Lease Agreements, and Service Level Agreements.
• Liaise with government agencies such as the Lands Bureau, Surveyor-General’s Office, and Real Estate Regulatory Authorities.
• Ensure compliance with land use regulations, property registration, and documentation processes.
• Manage legal issues arising from property disputes, encroachments, and customer complaints.
• Represent the company in court or liaise with external counsel when necessary.
• Monitor legal risks in real estate documentation and advise management on legal strategies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate legal records, contracts, and property files.
• Educate and train staff on real estate legal compliance and best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) and Call to Bar (B.L) is required.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of post-call experience in real estate law or property-related legal roles.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian land laws, property documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven experience in handling land transactions and resolving real estate disputes.
• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
