Welcome2Africa International is a private sector development company focused on strengthening Africa’s investment landscape, particularly within agriculture and related value chains. Under its Vision 2023 strategy, W2AI is scaling its operations by strengthening its subsidiaries, including W2A Trade—an evolving agribusiness export company focused on sourcing, aggregation, packaging, logistics, and export of agricultural commodities.

Position Overview

As W2A Trade transitions into a full-fledged export company, the General Manager (GM) will play a critical leadership role. The GM will be responsible for driving business growth, improving operational efficiency, and overseeing all trade-related activities. The ideal candidate will have strong operational experience, commercial acumen, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced and high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Define and execute the business strategy to position W2A Trade as a top-performing agribusiness export company.
Align W2A Trade’s goals with the broader W2AI Vision 2023 agenda.
Monitor and report on performance, growth targets, and sustainability outcomes.
Operations Management

Oversee end-to-end export activities, including sourcing, aggregation, quality control, packaging, and logistics.
Develop and manage aggregation centers across Nigeria to ensure reliable commodity flow.
Implement operational systems that ensure compliance, efficiency, and scalability.
Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement

Lead outreach to local and international off takers, buyers, and investors.
Convert trade leads from missions, shows, and referrals into successful deals.
Foster strategic relationships that contribute to long-term trade growth and market visibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with W2AI’s core departments—Legal, Finance, Growth & Trade Facilitation, and Operations—to ensure smooth execution of all trade mandates.
Participate in monthly performance reviews with W2AI department leads to ensure alignment on operations, documentation, finance, and outreach.
Utilize shared platforms such as CRM and Zoho Projects to manage real-time collaboration and visibility between offices.
Compliance and Documentation

Ensure all licenses and regulatory approvals are secured, up to date, and properly filed.
Coordinate with legal and administrative teams to guarantee full documentation of all trade activities.
Maintain rigorous reporting standards for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Team Development and Management

Recruit, build, and manage a high-performing team with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
Set performance objectives, provide training, and foster a results-driven team culture.
Manage field operations and coordinate with staff across sourcing, packaging, and logistics.
Expected Outcomes and Milestones

Within the first 90 days, the GM is expected to initiate and close at least one export deal generating a minimum of ₦200 million in trade revenue. By the medium term, the GM should have developed at least two operational aggregation centers and converted five high-quality investor or off taker leads. Over the long term, the GM will be responsible for forming at least three new strategic trade partnerships aligned with Vision 2023. Additional short-term priorities include securing all necessary licenses and building a core team of at least five members.

Requirements
Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a master’s degree is an added advantage.
Minimum of eight years of professional experience in agribusiness, export trade, or supply chain operations, with at least three years in a leadership or general management role.
Demonstrated experience in building and scaling trade or export-focused businesses.
Strong understanding of the agricultural export value chain and regulatory environment in Nigeria.
Skills and Competencies

Strategic thinking with strong operational execution capability.
Commercially driven with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Team leadership and performance management experience.
Proficiency in using project and performance tracking tools such as CRM systems and Zoho Projects.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
