Job Summary
The Farm Supervisor oversees daily farm operations, ensuring crops and/or livestock are efficiently managed to meet production targets. This role involves planning, coordinating, supervising farm workers, and implementing best agricultural practices to maximize productivity, quality, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and schedule daily farming activities, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting, and livestock management (if applicable).
Supervise and coordinate farm workers, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
Monitor crop growth, livestock health, and soil conditions to optimize yield and quality.
Operate and maintain farm equipment, ensuring timely servicing and repairs.
Implement pest and disease control measures and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Maintain accurate farm records, including production, expenses, labor, and inventory.
Assist in budget preparation and cost-control measures to improve farm profitability.
Ensure proper storage, packaging, and transportation of farm produce.
Train and mentor farm staff to improve skills and productivity.
Liaise with farm owners, suppliers, and agricultural experts to source quality inputs and adopt modern farming techniques.
Qualifications and Skills
Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, or related field (preferred).
Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in farm management or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of crop and/or livestock production techniques.
Ability to operate farm machinery and equipment.
Leadership and people management skills.
Good record-keeping, planning, and organizational skills.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Physically fit and willing to work in various weather conditions.
Work Conditions
Outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
May require long hours during planting and harvesting seasons.
Hands-on role with a combination of administrative and field supervision duties.
