Job Description
Job Summary:
The Medical Doctor will provide high-quality medical care to patients by conducting physical examinations, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing treatments, and offering preventive healthcare advice. The role requires compliance with medical ethics, facility protocols, and regulatory standards as established by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide outpatient and inpatient medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Take thorough patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, etc.).
Prescribe medications and administer treatments.
Refer patients to specialists when necessary and coordinate care.
Provide emergency medical services when needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and morbidity & mortality meetings.
Collaborate with nurses, lab scientists, pharmacists, and other healthcare staff.
Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and preventive care.
Ensure compliance with clinical policies, hygiene protocols, and safety standards.
Contribute to health outreach, vaccination programs, and public health education (as applicable).
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) from a recognized university.
Full registration and current practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
At least 1–3 years post-NYSC clinical experience (experience in a hospital or medical centre preferred).
Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficient in the use of electronic medical record systems (if applicable).
Ability to handle pressure and emergencies professionally.
Working Conditions:
May be required to work on shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
