Junior Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate will assist with financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger maintenance. This role offers growth potential and the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in corporate accounting within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and monthly management accounts
Reconcile bank statements and vendor accounts
Support accounts payable and receivable activities
Monitor and update fixed asset registers
Assist with tax and statutory filings (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.)
Track and maintain petty cash, staff retirements, and advance payments
Support audits (internal and external) by providing necessary documentation and schedules
Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for financial documents
Perform any other accounting duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant
Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a structured organization
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
Strong ethics and a high level of integrity
Preferred Skills:

Basic knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulatory requirements
Familiarity with bank reconciliations and bookkeeping best practices
Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
