Job Description
Responsibilities
· Operating a cab-controlled overhead crane and working around molten steel and slag.
· Safely operate the hot metal crane during operations and times of maintenance at the facility.
· Transporting hot metal for operations.
· Emptying ladles after processing, coordinating the operations with the entire melt shop team, and cross-training other team members in the hot metal crane operator position.
· Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety practices, policies, and procedures.
· Maintain housekeeping standards at all times.
· Track the functioning of the machine during process and off-process for any irregularities;
· Informing the Manager in charge of corrective action (filling logbook, records, and checklist).
· Advise management on whether the continued operation of equipment would be hazardous.
Requirements and skills
· BSc or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related course
· Minimum of 5 years employment
· Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
