Job Description (Summary):
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for managing all mechanical works on-site, including plumbing system installations. This role involves providing technical guidance, conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving project success through effective leadership and coordination.
Site Inspections and Monitoring:
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor mechanical installations and quality of workmanship.
• Oversee and supervise all on-site mechanical works, with a focus on plumbing systems.
• Certify the completion of plumbing work and approve materials before usage.
• Ensure the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) teams meet daily targets.
• Supervise Junior Mechanical Engineers and all plumbing-related work.
Project Accountability:
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
• Resolve technical difficulties and unforeseen issues on-site.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other departments to ensure efficient operations.
• Assume full responsibility for all mechanical work under supervision, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
Technical Advice:
• Assist in interpreting construction drawings and provide expert advice on mechanical-related work.
• Provide technical solutions to improve system performance and project outcomes.
Design and Schedule Management:
• Review designs produced by engineers and coordinate with other disciplines for seamless project execution.
• Produce or sketch working drawings to support on-site operations when required.
• Ensure project schedules are adhered to and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines.
Cost Management, Testing, and Reporting:
• Conduct mechanical and plumbing tests with contractors and document findings.
• Provide advice on mechanical costs during various stages of the project.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports and progress photographs.
• Support the MEP team in achieving set goals and targets for mechanical and electrical groups.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Must be a licensed engineer.
A minimum of 10 years of proven experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry.
Proficiency in engineering software, such as CAD tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
