Job Description
Location: Lekki
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Certified Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, with specific expertise in the construction and real estate sectors. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support the company’s growth.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Generate accurate and timely financial reports for management and stakeholders.
• Manage project cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and revenue.
2. Job Costing:
• Implement and maintain effective job costing systems.
• Monitor project budgets and provide variance analysis.
• Track and reconcile construction costs, including materials, labor, and subcontractor expenses.
3. Compliance and Auditing:
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits.
• Manage tax filings and ensure compliance with tax laws.
4. Accounts Management:
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Manage bank reconciliations and cash flow
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
5. Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts
• Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for improvement
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
6. Real Estate Specific Duties:
• Manage accounting for property management activities
• Track and report on real estate investment performance
• Handle accounting for real estate transactions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification
• Proven experience in accounting, preferably in the construction and/or real estate industry
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of construction industry-specific accounting software is a plus
• Experience with project management software
• Knowledge of real estate financial analysis
• Understanding of construction contracts and payment terms.
