Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic professional to fill the role of Corporate Affairs Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining productive relationships with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and public institutions. This role is critical in ensuring the organization's full compliance with governmental policies, facilitating regulatory approvals, and representing the company in official engagements. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of the regulatory landscape, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to advocate effectively for the company’s interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and sustain strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and relevant public agencies.
- Monitor and analyze government policies, laws, and regulatory developments that impact the organization.
- Ensure company-wide compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements.
- Coordinate and secure all necessary permits, approvals, licenses, and documentation from governmental departments.
- Represent the organization in external engagements, including meetings, conferences, hearings, and official events involving government stakeholders.
- Advocate for regulatory and policy frameworks that support the organization’s objectives and operational growth.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all government-related matters, inquiries, and compliance issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams—particularly Legal, Compliance, and Operations—to align regulatory activities with corporate strategies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all regulatory notices, requests, and government communications.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all regulatory submissions, approvals, and interactions with public authorities.
- Generate timely reports on government relations activities and the organization's compliance status.
- Provide regular updates to management on relevant legislative or policy changes that may affect operations.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or regulatory affairs, preferably within the FMCG industry.
- Demonstrated experience working with government agencies and navigating complex regulatory environments.
- In-depth knowledge of government structures, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements in Nigeria.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build influential relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks and meet strict deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
