Job Description
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to serve as the Head of Risk Management for its oil & gas operations. This role demands a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic domains. The ideal candidate will leverage cutting-edge AI-driven tools and methodologies to enhance risk management processes, ensuring the company effectively manages risk exposure, maintains compliance with industry regulations, and supports growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on emerging risks and opportunities, supported by AI-powered data insights.
Lead the development of business continuity plans, incorporating AI insights to enhance resilience and adaptability.
Oversee risk assessments across all operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic domains, utilizing advanced AI tools for real-time monitoring and analysis.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, leveraging AI to streamline compliance processes and identify gaps.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed AI-driven risk management strategies into business operations.
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives, incorporating all aspects of risk including operational, financial, regulatory, strategic, and environmental.
Lead risk assessments for new and ongoing oil & gas projects, evaluating risks related to exploration, drilling, refining, logistics, and trading.
Establish and manage a risk register, ensuring that all risks are properly classified, tracked, and mitigated through appropriate measures.
Design and implement risk control frameworks, including procedures and tools to monitor, report, and manage risks across the company’s operations.
Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that risk management considerations are embedded in the company’s strategic decision-making and day-to-day operations.
Monitor external risks such as geopolitical, economic, regulatory, environmental, and market changes that could affect the company's performance and operational capacity.
Oversee the management of insurance programs, including coverage for property, liability, business interruption, and environmental risks.
Lead the crisis management and business continuity planning, ensuring that the company is prepared for potential disruptions (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, major accidents).
Maintain a robust internal control system to identify and prevent operational and financial fraud, regulatory violations, and other risks.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. A master's degree in business administration (MBA), Finance, or Risk Management is a plus.
Certification in Risk Management (e.g., PRM, FRM, CRISC) is an advantage.
10–15 years of experience in risk management within the oil & gas sector, including significant exposure to upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, with experience in integrating AI technologies into risk processes.
Strong analytical skills, with expertise in AI-driven risk modeling and predictive analytics.
Strong experience in financial risk management, including credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and insurance.
Deep understanding of oil & gas industry regulations, including environmental, health & safety, and governance requirements.
Proven track record of managing large-scale risk mitigation programs across complex and geographically diverse operations.
Experience with enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks, internal controls, and risk reporting tools.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive innovation and foster collaboration
Advanced knowledge of risk management software (e.g., SAP GRC, RiskWatch) and data analysis tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex risk concepts in clear, actionable terms for senior leadership and the board.
