Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and providing support to patients and clients. This role demands attention to detail, good communication skills, and strict adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
• Receive and verify prescription orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain stock levels, organize shelves, and ensure proper storage of all medications.
• Keep accurate records of dispensed medications and inventory.
• Assist in managing controlled substances in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Provide frontline customer service, including answering medication-related inquiries under pharmacist supervision.
• Operate point-of-sale systems and handle payments.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety in the pharmacy workspace.
• Support the pharmacist in administrative duties and daily operations.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• HND, or Certificate in Pharmacy Technician studies from an accredited institution.
• Must be licensed and registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
• Completion of a one-year internship in a pharmacy setting is preferred.
• At least 1 year of work experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy environment.
• Good understanding of pharmaceutical terminologies and medication handling.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy management systems is an advantage.
