Job Description
HND/B.Sc. degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in publishing, academic editing, or a related industry.
Deep understanding of social science concepts, terminology, and academic standards.
Strong editing and proofreading skills with excellent knowledge of grammar, and editorial best practices.
Proven ability to manage multiple manuscripts and meet tight deadlines.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse authors and contributors.
Experience verifying qualitative data, sources, and case references.
Familiarity with current trends in social science research and publishing.
Proficiency with editing and word processing tools such as MS Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Key Responsibilities
Edit and proofread manuscripts in sociology, political science, economics, education, and related fields.
Ensure consistency with editorial guidelines and academic integrity standards.
Provide feedback to authors on structure, clarity, and argumentation.
Cross-reference sources and verify qualitative research citations.
Collaborate with authors, peer reviewers, and production teams to ensure quality and timely publication.
Suggest improvements to enhance content accessibility and reader engagement.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of social science discourse and terminology.
Oversee publishing timelines, production quotes, and the annual India reprint cycle.
Coordinate management of UBEC title files and other documentation.
Contribute to the ongoing refinement of editorial practices for social science publications.
