Job Description

Job Title: Language Curriculum Designer (Yoruba or Igbo)

Job Summary:
We are looking for a language curriculum designer – Yoruba or Igbo – to design, implement, and continuously improve our end-to-end language tutoring and learning system for Tuteria’s local and international language learners. This role combines the responsibilities of curriculum design, lesson planning, and learning materials design with a clear goal to make learning these languages accessible, structured, and effective for beginners to advanced learners, ensuring that learners achieve the aim of subscribing to these languages.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive language curriculum, lesson plans, course materials, and grading and assessment systems for these languages by delivering engaging learning experiences. The successful candidate will also work closely with various internal departments to scale the offerings to a large number of learners across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Design & Content Development
Design a structured multi-level language curriculum (beginner to advanced) for Yoruba or Igbo, including learning outcomes, lesson plans, assessments, and materials.
Create and curate interactive resources such as audio pronunciation guides, cultural references, exercises, and quizzes.
Ensure curriculum alignment with industry standards and other applicable language learning frameworks.
Ensure content is culturally appropriate, age-sensitive, and skill-based.

2. Program System Design & Management
Set up scalable delivery systems to adopt in delivering the Yoruba or Igbo curriculum (e.g., lesson tracking, assessments, feedback forms).
Build an internal feedback loop to improve continuous course design and delivery.
Design training materials for future Yoruba and Igbo tutors using the curriculum and ensure quality consistency.
Work with relevant teams to build digital features and improve discoverability and course delivery.
Review and revise materials based on feedback and learner testing
Deliver all assets on schedule and in agreed-upon format

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in linguistics, education, African languages, or related fields.
Fluent in spoken and written Yoruba or Igbo (native-level fluency preferred).
Strong command of English or Yoruba Language
Minimum of 3 years teaching or tutoring experience in either Yoruba or Igbo
Experience in curriculum development and language content creation.
Certification in Language Teaching is an added advantage
Experience teaching language to non-native speakers or diaspora learners.
Passionate about preserving and promoting Nigerian indigenous languages (Yoruba or Igbo)
Highly organized and detail-oriented in course design and documentation.
Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and learner engagement skills.
Tech-savvy, familiar with online learning tools and methods.
Self-driven and comfortable working in a fast-growing startup environment.
