Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant and PAYE Expert to manage financial transactions and ensure compliance with statutory payroll tax obligations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in accounting, payroll processing, and tax remittance, particularly with PAYE systems (as per Nigerian tax law or your local jurisdiction).
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
Ensure timely and accurate computation, deduction, and remittance of PAYE tax and other statutory deductions (e.g. pension, NHF, NSITF).
Process payroll accurately and in compliance with tax laws and labor regulations.
Liaise with tax authorities (FIRS, State IRS) to ensure compliance and resolve issues.
File monthly and annual tax returns (e.g. PAYE schedule, Annual Tax Returns).
Monitor tax legislation changes and advise management accordingly.
Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
Implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Requirements:
BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in accounting and payroll/tax processing.
Solid knowledge of Nigerian PAYE, personal income tax laws, and statutory deductions.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
ICAN, ACCA, or CITN certification is a added advantage.
Preferred:
Experience handling multi-state PAYE and statutory compliance.
Ability to train or guide HR/payroll staff on tax regulations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
