Job Description

SOUS CHEF
As the Sous Chef, you are responsible for assisting the head chef, managing kitchen
staff, and ensuring food preparation and kitchen cleanliness, Your role is to assist the
head chef in overseeing culinary operations and ensuring the highest standards of
cuisine are maintained. Your creativity, attention to detail, and culinary expertise
contribute to the establishment’s reputation for excellence and refinement, enhancing
the dining experience for discerning guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Cook and prepare dishes.
● Direct food preparation processes
● Assist the Chef De Cuisine in creating menu items and meal designs
● Ensure that all kitchen stations and equipment are clean, organized, and
sanitized
● Assist the Chef De Cuisine in the administration and training of new kitchen staff
● Supervise and motivate cooks of other levels (senior and line cooks)
● Ensure the health and safety of all kitchen stations
● Ensure the health and safety of food items
● Ensure that standard food and hygiene practices are adhered to
● Evaluate the performance of all kitchen staff
● Ensure food quality and standards are maintained for all dishes created
● Give a report directly to the Chef De Cuisine on all kitchen activities
● Raise a requisition for food inventory needs
● Manage the kitchen inventory
● Ensure that kitchen supplies are fresh and of high quality
● Ensure proper food temperature when cooking or storing it afterwards
● Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service
● Take charge of the kitchen opening and closing.
● Perform any other task assigned.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
● Diploma or Degree in hospitality, Culinary Arts, or related field.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, including at least 1
year in a supervisory role.
● Proficiency in culinary techniques, knife skills, and modern cooking equipment.
● Strong leadership, time management, communication, and problem-solving
● Passion for creating incredible food that delights and attracts customers
● Ability to manage and coordinate a team in a fast-paced work environment
● Must be detail-oriented
● Must always appear clean and tidy, and organised.
