Job Description
HND/B.Sc. Degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in scientific publishing or technical editing.
Strong understanding of scientific terminology, methodology, and data interpretation.
Excellent editing and proofreading skills with knowledge of scientific writing standards and citation styles
Attention to detail, especially in reviewing data, charts, and research findings.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency in fact-checking scientific content and verifying sources.
Familiarity with peer review processes and publication ethics in science.
Skilled in using editing software, formatting tools, and reference management tools
Key Responsibilities
Edit and proofread scientific manuscripts for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards.
Ensure consistency of terminology, units, and data representation across documents.
Verify references, research methods, and data sources for scientific accuracy.
Communicate with authors to clarify technical content and improve manuscript structure.
Collaborate with design and production teams to prepare illustrations, figures, and tables for publication.
Provide feedback and guidance to authors on improving the scientific impact and readability of their work.
Coordinate publishing schedules and maintain accuracy in production documentation.
Manage annual scientific reprints and updates to UBEC files where applicable.
Monitor and apply evolving trends in scientific communication and best practices.
